We are now accepting applications for Petroleum Transmission Service Technician


Louisiana Cat is seeking a Petroleum Transmission Service Technician to perform transmission repairs and rebuilds. Depending on the location and assignment, the technician will be responsible for some or all of the functions and duties listed below.  These repairs and rebuilds may require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule for emergency calls or routine service as required.  Flexibility and in-depth product knowledge are necessary for this position.  

JOb Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Removes, disassembles, assembles, and installs components and parts.
  2. Identify the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps.
  3. Determines reusability of parts in accordance with published Caterpillar reusability guidelines.
  4. Orders replacement parts ensuring that parts ordered are correct and complete at the time of order.
  5. Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains engines, transmissions, generators and components.
  6. Tests, measures, and adjusts engine, transmission and power system components.
  7. Prepares, inspects and operates engines, transmissions and generators prior to completion.
  8. Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems.
  9. Prepares inspection and appraisal reports.
  10. Prepares accurate and complete service reports timely.
  11. Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance always adhering to company policy.
  12. Flexible to work after hours when needed to meet customer needs.
  13. Performs related duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or (GED) equivalent. Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair CAT power systems equipment and components in the field.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
