DESCRIPTION

The Parts and Service Sales Representative serves as a consultant for customer accounts within a defined territory. In addition to supporting the customer with Caterpillar solutions, they are responsible for coordinating with colleagues in Parts, Services, and Equipment Management divisions to effectively meet those customers' needs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Visit customers face-to-face and build relationships with decision-makers
  2. Conduct equipment inspections based on Caterpillar standards
  3. Understand full-range of dealerships' product offerings and advise customers on equipment management solutions
  4. Consult with customers about equipment life cycles, maintenance, and replacement budgets
  5. Analyze leads and build efficient call plans to sell solutions
  6. Set target sales goals for each customer and promote offerings appropriately

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree is required. Knowledge of Caterpillar product lines preferred but not required. This position is bested suited for someone who is aggressive, ambitious, and highly competitive.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers. Ability to read, interpret, and explain documents such as financial reports, legal and service agreements, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and effective correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills including computing rates, ratios, averages, fractions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.   

REASONING ABILITY

Demonstrate critical thinking in their ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to develop routine protocols as well as identify when the routines do not apply in a specific situation and handle exceptions as needed. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office suite.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver's license and good driving record.

REQUIRED TRAVEL

This position will require daily travel throughout the assigned territory.

Normal sight or corrected vision is required to read documents and use standard computer terminals. The employee must be able to occasionally lift 25 pounds from floor to chest.
